ROLE AND MISSION
STATEMENT
We come together as
Christians to love and support one another as we serve God, to be loyal to
Christ's Holy Church through our prayers, presence, gifts, and service, to
reach out to the community and world with God's love and the Lordship of His
Son Jesus Christ.
Mayo United Methodist
Church in Edgewater, Maryland welcomes you. Though we are a small congregation,
our impact in the community is wide ranging. In addition to regular Sunday
Services and Sunday School, the church hosts a daily pre-school, Scouting programs, a strong youth program and Bible
studies. We support missionaries in Africa and Malaysia,
the Lighthouse Shelter in Annapolis, the Arundel Habitat For Humanity,
Appalachia Service Project and provide
scholarships for summer church camps. We also support the South County Food Bank.
We have traditional activities like the United
Methodist Women and regular confirmation classes, but we are also known for our
uncommonly good social events that reflect the bounty and easy lifestyle of the
Chesapeake Bay.
The distinguishing
feature of the congregation is the creation of an accepting and loving
environment for all people to share. This church provides a place for true
seekers to grow in spiritual matters at the pace that God sets. We understand
that one soul's needs are different from the next. Thus we encourage people to
not sit in judgment of one another, but to show each other the quiet
understanding and tolerance that are the fruits of a Spirit-filled life. We have
faith that God will reveal to each of us that which we need to know and that he
will provide for our needs according to his riches in glory.
Join us each Sunday for our 9:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Worship . Childcare
is provided during both services.
